Imperial Dialogues - a series of talks where we invite prominent public figures to discuss contemporary issues. The discussions regularly open a space in the Karlovy Vary Region for debates on society, science, technology, art and challenges affecting the Czech Republic and the world.
This time our guest will be journalist František Trojan. Together we will look at the state of Czech society and the work of Czech journalists. Recently, real journalism has been slowly disappearing from the regions and the periphery of the republic, and the last "bastion" of journalistic work has become the big cities. But do journalists from the centre understand the problems of the regions sufficiently? And what is the role of the journalist at a time when society is so dramatically divided? And is there anything that binds Czech society together today? We would like to seek answers to these and other questions together.
František Trojan studied journalism in Brno. He is an editor at Respekt. He starred with his parents in the films The Charlatan and The Price of Happiness.
