Imperial Dialogues - a series of talks with prominent public figures on contemporary issues. The aim of the debate evenings is to offer a regular platform in the Karlovy Vary Region for discussions about society, science, technology, art and the challenges we face in the Czech Republic and the world in general.

Our guest this time will be Petra Procházková, Czech journalist and foreign correspondent. Petra Procházková is best known for her coverage of the war conflicts in the Caucasus after the collapse of the Soviet Union. She has also worked in Afghanistan.

Performers

Since 2014 she has been Lidove noviny's correspondent in Ukraine. In September 2018, she announced her resignation after 27 years with Lidové noviny due to an affair involving an allegedly government-planted text supporting the position of Andrej Babiš, the Prime Minister and indirect owner of the MAFRA publishing house. In early October 2018, she then announced her resignation from Deník N.

Programme

Petra Procházková has been a foreign correspondent for over thirty years, covering wars from Chechnya to Afghanistan. She is an expert on the post-Soviet space and currently reports from war-torn Ukraine. In 2023, she received France's highest state decoration, the Legion of Honor. She will be in the Imperial Baths on 18 November to discuss not only Ukraine and Russia, but also what the war means for ordinary people.
